I am trying to save energy by switching to alternative sources of energy. I have watched the video of Al Gore on the current state of our world today and it scares me. I have three children and I want them to grow up with resources available to them at all times. I can imagine the time when resources, especially energy, is not available anymore and this will be very hard.

That’s why I am trying to research and study about different alternative energy plans. I am planning to make one in my own house. I have looked at different nooks about wind turbine plans because the wind in my area is strong. So if you want to switch to alternative energy, all you need to do is research and study about it.

If you are thinking of ways in order to save energy or get it at a lower cost, why don’t you try alternative energy? Some of the examples are solar energy and wind energy. They are cost-effective and they are also very eco-friendly. It is not that popular but a lot of homeowners are already giving it a shot.

Some homeowners build their own solar panels in order to get energy from the sun. On the other hand, others build wind turbines so that they can get energy from the wind. These methods are not fault-free but they are worth having a try. They may give you free energy but remember that maintenance is not free.

Marine Wind Turbines – A Safe Way to Travel With

There is a great growth in wind power and powerful wind turbines – including in most marine vehicles. We cannot deny that sailboats are already equipped with stylish and latest technology that is vital for a secure and relaxing sea journey. Installation of marine wind turbines should not be complicated and can be installed in different points like in the stern post or mizzen mast. Modern wind turbines have microprocessor-based controllers that provide better operation. It can successfully enhance battery charging and manipulate blade rotation speed, thus getting rid of fluttering noise.

The next time you plan for a sea journey, keep in mind that you can rely on a sailboat that is powered by wind turbine. Enjoy and relax while savoring the feel of the seawater. You will surely have a great day when you are certain with a worry-free travel.

Wind Energy

A wind turbine is a large rotating device that is designed to convert the energy of the wind into mechanical energy. There are two basic components in wind turbines: blades that are moved by the wind and the mechanical gears and electricity generator. As the wind moves the turbine blades, the rotor shaft moves the gears located inside the gearbox. This movement creates energy, which is captured by the electricity generator and added to the power grid.

In recent years, the wind turbine as electrical generator has begun to be used as a significant source of power generation throughout the entire world. In the global initiative away from fossil fuel energy to more sustainable forms of energy, wind power has become a very significant player. It is relatively affordable, can be utilized in different regions of the world, and can be quite efficient. There are more than 120 gigawatts of electricity produced worldwide through the use of wind energy today.

Wind turbine design can actually fall into two basic types which are horizontal and vertical axis turbines. Horizontal wind turbines are the most recognized and the ones that are mostly being used today. Although a vertical wind turbine is not as popular because they are thought of to be less efficient, new designs and models are constantly being produced. One of the basic ideas for vertical wind turbine design is to minimize the noise pollution and potential harm to birds that the horizontal wind turbine is known for.

One vertical wind turbine design is the Darrieus, which is often compared to an egg beater in appearance. It features an airfoil design which uses the lift forces of wind to move, much similar to the wings of an airplane. This design is highly efficient in producing sufficient wind energy to produce electricity, but is not self-starting and needs a motor to generate speed before being able to create significant torque of its own.

Answers to Questions on the Small Wind Turbine

While it is difficult to assess the number of small wind turbine users, there are indications that it is a sizable market. Small wind turbines are installed on top of homes or in other high locations. They are used to collect kinetic energy from the wind and convert it to electricity. The objective is to be assured of continues supply of power and save some money in the process.

A wind turbine typically lowers a household’s electricity bill by at least 50%. Residential homes with metering can be served simultaneously by a wind turbine and local utility. Once installed, little more is required. These machines have very few moving parts and do not require regular maintenance. They are designed for long life and operate automatically.

We all need to do our part in saving our planet and the environment. The best way to do this is to find responsible, reliable and renewable alternatives to using fossil fuels. Because of the advances in science and technology a lot of renewable sources of energy has come up. One of the most promising sources is solar energy. This is specially true because it is getting easier to build your own solar panel.

You will be able to help the environment as well as help yourself by reducing your electricity consumption and lower your electricity costs for your whole family. There are sites on the Internet that are dedicated to teaching you the simple steps in making your own solar panels. It might cost a little bit high at the onset but the long term benefits will definitely outweigh the short term expenses. Go green and help save the environment.

The search for alternative sources of energy has never been at its highest. Because of the rising cost of electricity and crude oil, finding alternative as well as cheaper forms of energy is one of the top priorities for everyone. One of the more popular sources that fit this category is the use of residential wind turbines. A wind turbine is a device that converts kinetic energy from the wind into mechanical energy.

The development of the smaller versions of these devices has resulted in residential wind turbines. From the term itself, it is primarily for use in residential areas. These are definitely smaller than their industrial counterparts but they still perform the same basic functions. These residential wind turbines are most often used for battery charging. The batteries are then used to power our homes or other small devices.

Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are renewable (naturally replenished). You can say goodbye to fossil fuels and not worry about where you will get energy. Renewable energy is even better because it is not scarce and can last forever if taken care of properly. You just need to know how to harness solar and wind energy or process geothermal or biomass.

There are six mainstream forms of renewable energy and they are as follows:

  • Wind Power
  • Hydropower
  • Solar Energy
  • Biomass
  • Geothermal Energy
